This Weekend - Backseat Driver: M.C. Reardon

Vehicle Photography has received 4 great shots from M.C. Reardon this week.  Just below this entry are 3 from that series that I am featuring this weekend.  I love these shots because they represent diverse motifs, modes of transportation and locations.  Vehicle Photography tries to exemplify the idea that photo's taken from moving vehicles are an important source for documenting our lives and history and have unlimited potential to be great works of art.  M.C. Reardon's photo's are a perfect example of art, nature and technology; in-motion, together.

Flo-Rida

I'm in Florida now.  The change of scenery really making me think about the universality of Vehicle Photography.  There is beauty everywhere you look if you are open to finding it.  In a vehicle beauty sometimes goes on by and you don't have time to take a picture of it but it's ok because you've experienced it, learned it and now it's part of you.  Next time don't let it pass you by, swing around for another glimpse or keep moving on to the next thing. You are an artist, just like me and now you know more than before.  Being patient, learning and believing in the process is what this project is all about.  I've been getting so many great pics these past few days please keep em' coming in.

Road Trip Sorta

I'm off to Florida.  Gonna get some sun and relax a bit.  Recharge my batteries for what is shaping up to be an active Summer in New England.  I hope that this trip will give me some opportunities for some great Vehicle Photography.  If you are planning any road trips now or in the future make sure you pack your camera and send off some pics to me please!

Commuting

Some of my best Vehicle Photography pics have been taken during my commute.  It keeps me alert, tuned in to subtle changes going on around me and helps fight the boredom that sets in over time when commuting starts to seem like a never-ending chore. I don't recommend taking your hands off the wheel in order to get a great shot but if you are on a train, bus or (ugh!) van like me than you aren't doing the driving so snap away!!!!Keep the pics rolling in, thanks for your visit and happy travels.

Heading to the Islands

As an employee at Boston Harbor Island Alliance I sometimes get the opportunity to enjoy the islands as a visitor.  Today, I'm heading out to Peddocks Island to take in the sights and sounds before the park is officially open to the public for the season.  Should be some great views from the boat and the on-island buggy.  Vehicle photography on the islands! Stay tuned.

Vehicle Photography Logo by Nick Guido

As promised, a new logo for Vehicle. This logo was designed by Nick Guido. For me this is like the grown-up version of a Vehicle logo. Thanks to Nick for all of his hard-work and creativity. It's awesome when you have friends who are talented and also willing to participate in the wacky stuff you are working on.

Backseat Driver

Backseat Driver is this blog's version of a guest artist.  From time-to-time we will feature a series of works by an artist who's work is exemplary and that artist will be anointed: Backseat Driver!!!  Our first ever Backseat Driver is my man Andrew Sachs.  Along with being a kick-ass lawyer, dad and friend Andrew is a talented photographer, draftsmen and musician.  Check out his Vehicle photography below taken out in the Wild West.

Oil change

Today I posted what I hope is the first of many Vehicle pics from well-known artists.  The photo below is by Kristin Hersh of Throwing Muses.  Ms. Hersh is a talented musician and photographer.  She is a solo artist as well as lead singer for the acclaimed band.  Check back often to see who else may pop-up.  Also, keep your Vehicle pics coming in, this blog is conceived from the premise that all of us are capable of making great art and that we do it everyday.  Almost everyone I know agrees that photography from moving vehicles is a universal expression of where we've been and where we are going.  Share your adventures here and you never know who you will be sharing screen time with!  Thanks to Kristin Hersh and all of the artists who have contributed.  Moving on!
